I know I possess existing groupings and users but I'meters not sure about their association. Can be there an cover order I can make use of to list all users or all organizations and a control to list all groupings/users for a specified user/group?
So something likeshowuserswould list all users, andshowgroups -u thisuserwould display all the groupings that have gotthisuserin it.
Linux doesn’t provide a straight forward command to list all users in the system. You can list users who are currently logged in, or you can find groups that the user belongs to, but really no simple way to list users or to get a comprehensive list of all users in the system or a list of users in a specific group.

Whilekitty /etc/passwdshows all users (and a bunch of various other things),lower -d ':' -y 1is certainly a simple way to divided each collection with ':' as a delimiter and draw out just the first industry (users). Quite much the exact same as awk version.

Think what, really simmilar to record users. Simply parse/etc/groupinstead.
Another fascinating way, probably closer to what OP needed, is certainlycompgen. Not really sure about compatibility issues though.
